I still remember almond eyes
Your sweetness, your forever smiles
A bundle, an angel, brought home to me
My future friend, my sisterly;
At night you slept, I heard no sighs
And in the morning I did rise
To see your face, your almond eyes
Your innoncence it told no lies;
To you I sang 'My Ruby Love'
And said you were my sky above
I kissed your ear and in my heart
I new I loved you from the start;
I told you tales of days to come
When you would look and I'd be gone
It came too soon my time to leave
And I know, for me, you did so grieve;
Oh in your eyes such pain I saw
A broken heart, I know that now
I wish I could go back in time
And comfort you sister of mine;
But years have passed, and now you're grown
A women sweet, I should have known
But there's one thing you can't disguise
I still can see your almond eyes!
And if you leave and go away
I will not fight, I will not say
To you a word to make you stay
For you, like me must make your way;
Though in my heart, other stories told
My grief and tears I promise to hold
I'll kiss your ear, I'll take your hand
And wish you well in another land
