Brother

So many times I wished to hold
Your hand in mine and be so bold
To open mind, let down my guard
And introduce you to my heart;

And though our lives we do not share
There is a bond, fragile and bare
And through the years, as time goes by
Your esteem I will hold high;

You stand tall and give an air
Of boldness grand and without care
But underneath the thin veneer
A tender soul and heart so dear;

A lonely ship, once lost it be
And battled winds, in darkened sea
But through the mist, and over tides
Found victory on the other side;

And though your spirit, tattered and torn
In your eyes a new light born
That deep within your soul you found
The strength of ten, to carry on;

And now I look into your face
A new found joy has found it's place
A women sweet with soul to keep
To watch upon you as you sleep;

So fear no more the sounds of night
Keep near to heart this new found light
And close your mind to all things past
Embrace the day, and life, at last
